Glass is extremely versatile and, as used glass, is one of the most valuable secondary raw materials. If it is heated to around 1 000 °C glass can be easily formed, and it melts at 1 400°C. Consequently new products can be created from used glass without any concessions to quality.
Glass is a rigid, tasteless and odourless material that is also acid resistant and gas tight. This is the reason why glass is a popular material for packaging. Sorting used glass by colour facilitates the later recovery.
In the ALBA glass processing plants the fine sorting and recovery of foreign material from the used glass is carried out by means of a modern opto-electronic recognition method. New glass is then produced from high quality glass granulate.
ALBA will be pleased to advise you on the processing as well as on the purchasing and sales of glass. Just consult our experts at ALBA Wertstoffmanagement GmbH.
