Berlin. The ALBA Group, one of the world’s leading recycling, environmental services and raw materials providing groups, has agreed to build a high-tech recycling park with Chengdu Techcent Environment Co., Ltd. (“Techcent”) and Deyang Construction Investment. The signing ceremony took place today on the occasion of the meeting between the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Chinese Prime Minister Keqiang Li in Berlin.

The roughly 3.3 square kilometre “Deyang Resource Recycling Industrial Park” is to be built south-east of the city of Deyang in the eastern agglomeration of Sichuan Province. The park’s unique concept provides for all types of waste and all treatment and recycling steps to be processed in one place using the state-of-the-art plants available. The strictest environmental standards will be complied with in the process. Thus reducing transport costs and environmental pollution. All the region’s waste is to be returned to the economic cycle, residual waste is to be minimised and the region’s air and water pollution is to be reduced as best as possible using state-of-the-art technology, the intelligent networking of material and energy flows and a centralised park infrastructure. ALBA is providing specialists for all types of waste, taking a lead in designing the concept, organising the interaction and also applying for several modules itself.

“China is very interested in rapid progress in terms of environmental protection. In the process it is relying on German recycling expertise, like we offer at ALBA,” says Dr Axel Schweitzer, CEO of ALBA Group, on the occasion of today’s signing of the agreement. “We want to develop these kinds of high-tech recycling parks, like the one planned now, in various Chinese regions. We are delighted to be able to make a start with our partners in Deyang and be a role model for other projects with this. As a result, we are actively supporting China to continue to set up and expand the concept of modern and sustainable recycling and reuse.”

The Deyang Resource Recycling Industrial Park is seen as a model for sustainable waste management in China; sustainable waste and recycling concepts for use in mega cities are being practically tested here. The investment volume is roughly EUR 1 billion. Enquiries for other parks in other regions have already been received.
