Procyclen® and recythene®: a double dose of innovation
Recycled plastic to suit any requirements
As raw materials providers, the ALBA Group companies close material recycling loops - and that also applies to recycled plastics. Using innovative sorting and processing technologies, our experts are able to produce plastics of varying quality for different applications. And in recythene® and procyclen®, our industrial customers have at their disposal two high-quality secondary raw materials suitable for admixing with other materials and for manufacturing new products and packaging.
Step one: recythene®
The "recycled-resource" process involves turning used plastics into various forms of recycled plastics. The first step produces recythene®, a granulate used both for admixing and for producing straightforward new products. recythene® is exceptionally pure and dry, is particularly well suited to extrusion and injection moulding processes, and comes in a variety of colours.
Step two: procyclen®
The next step involves processing recythene® into procyclen®, a material used as a substitute for virgin materials. Using specially developed in-house technology, ALBA Group specialists produce materials such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE), polyethylene (PE) and polystyrene (PS), all in a consistently high quality, from 100% post-consumer waste. The process can easily be extended to other forms of plastics used in other industries, such as the popular industrial plastic ABS. Material properties like flowability, impact resistance or heat resistance can be tailored specifically to the requirements of the customer - with the further option of various colour ranges from the RAL spectrum. In short, for injection and blow moulding processes, procyclen® offers a sustainable alternative to new plastics, without compromising on quality.
