Recyclable Waste. General.

Recyclable waste has a high material or energetic potential after thorough sorting.

Material recycling aims at recovering raw materials from waste (as copper from used electronic equipment, for example).

Energetic recycling aims at using waste to produce energy (as burning combustibles in place of fossil fuels in cement plants, for example).

Processing of combustibles includes separation of non-combustible materials (glass, stone, metal, ceramics, etc.) and shredding of the remaining waste. Energetic recycling has become increasingly important in recent years, and innovative technologies were developed for preprocessing residual and domestic waste.
