Portfolio reorganisation is progressing
Berlin/Amsterdam/Dortmund. The ALBA Group which deals with environmental services and the supply of raw materials continues with its announced process of reorganising its portfolio. So that the ALBA Group is in a better position for the internationalisation, a new export terminal in Amsterdam is built. It should be brought into service effective from January 1, 2014. To compensate, the lease on the terminal in Dordrecht (also in the Netherlands) has been terminated.
The new terminal offers a whole range of benefits: Across the premises all kinds of iron scrap can be dealt with; moreover with 27,000 square metres the site is five times the size of that in Dordrecht (5,000 square metres) and with its close proximity to airports, motorways and rail connections it is, from an infrastructure point of view, optimal. Eight of our own employees are employed at the terminal in the Dutch capital; up to 200,000 tonnes can be stored and ships with a capacity of up to 50,000 tonnes can be processed.
"The new terminal is part of our long term overall strategy to strengthen our international orientation. From this point of view the building and leasing is an important step", according to Dr. Axel Schweitzer, CEO of the ALBA Group.
The sale of the steel and metal recycling subsidiary in Nordrhein-Westfalen is also part of the portfolio reorganising: TSR Recycling GmbH & Co. KG has taken over the INTERSEROH NRW GmbH from INTERSEROH Scrap & Metals Holding GmbH. This was agreed to by both companies. The takeover is subject to the approval of the Federal Cartel Office, among other things. "Against the background of the rapidly growing interest in 'Recycling - Made in Germany' abroad, we will align much more international and deepen our value chain without questioning our home base", stressed Schweitzer.
INTERSEROH NRW GmbH is a scrap recycler based in Dortmund. The sale of the INTERSEROH NRW GmbH consists of the headquarters in Dortmund and the operating facilities in Mülheim, Münster and Werdohl, with an overall total of 98 employees.
