Berlin. The ALBA Group, one of the leading environmental services providers and suppliers of raw materials, has parted company with its metals location in Mannheim in the course of the group’s strategic development. The location, which was previously owned by ALBA Metall Süd GmbH, was sold to the Bernhard Westarp group of companies for raw materials trading. In the future, ALBA Metall Süd will be consolidating its business operations at its other locations.
“We are continuously advancing with the strategic realignment of our group”, explained Dr. Axel Schweitzer, CEO of ALBA Group plc & Co. KG. “Our objective remains further increasing the depth of value creation in our key areas of business.”
The Mannheim location was mainly used by ALBA for the purchase and sale and also the preparation of scrap and metals for the castings- and steel industry. In 2017, it processed a total volume of approximately 100,000 tonnes. The purchase contract was signed on 29 May 2018. The buyer will continue to employ all of the workforce.
