Berlin. Martin Becker-Rethmann, Member of the Board of Directors of ALBA Group, is leaving the Berlin-based international recycling and raw materials firm at the turn of the year. In addition to his Group-wide responsibility for the area of technology, the 47-year-old most recently led the operational business in Poland as well as the implementation of the growth projects in China and Hong Kong.
"Thanks to his many years of experience in all areas of the waste management industry, Mr Becker-Rethmann made a significant contribution to the successful establishment of ALBA Group in China. I thank him for this and for his commitment to the company's operations," says Dr Axel Schweitzer, CEO of ALBA Group. However, the further expansion of the activities there now require a higher presence in China, which is not compatible with Becker-Rethmann's life planning.
Martin Becker-Rethmann: "I can look back at two challenging and successful decades in the ALBA Group, in which I was able to contribute to the expansion of the Group into an international player in the waste management industry. However, after such a long time and shortly before the mid-point of my life, it is the right time to venture something new."
In 1994, following a post in the Environmental Protection/Residual Waste Directorate of the Treuhandanstalt, industrial economics graduate Becker-Rethmann began working as a controller in what was then ALBA AG & Co. KG. After management roles in various companies of the ALBA Group in Germany and abroad, he was promoted to the Board of Directors of the management company in 2009.
In leaving the ALBA Group, Becker-Rethmann also ends his activity as a Member and Vice Chairman of the Administrative Board of ALBA SE.
