Cologne. Upcycling by Interseroh: the plastics recycling process recycled-resource developed by INTERSEROH Dienstleistungs GmbH, a subsidiary of the environmental services and raw material provider ALBA Group, has been nominated for the German Innovation Award for Climate and the Environment (IKU) 2013. With this award, the German Federal Environment Ministry and the Federation of German Industries honours the efforts of industry and research in climate and environmental protection. As announced today on <link http: www.iku-innovationspreis.de>www.iku-innovationspreis.de Interseroh’s innovative sorting and processing technique has been nominated in the category "Environment-friendly products and services".
Using recycled-resource, Interseroh is able to manufacture plastic granulates made completely from post-consumer material in the quality of virgin material. This protects both the climate and resources, as a study by the Frauenhofer institute UMSICHT shows. Industrial use of the regranulates Recythen and Procyclen releases significantly less harmful greenhouse gases than use of virgin material – and that with markedly less consumption of primary energy. Both regranulates stem exclusively from the collection of recyclable materials from households and industry.
"recycled-resource opens up completely new perspectives for sustainable enterprise and contributes to easing the strain on commodity markets," says Kai Bastuck, head of the responsible business unit at Interseroh. "The advantages of recycled-resource over other processes are clear: since 100 percent post-consumer material is used, manufacturers may apply for the eco-label "Blue Angel" for their end product. In addition to this, the waste plastic is sorted and processed by Interseroh only, which means we are able to supply new regranulates in previously unattainable quality specifically to customer requirements, for example, in a certain colour or meeting certain technical demands."
Interseroh has already won the INDUSTRY AWARD 2013 in the category "Support and Services" for its development of recycled-resource and the resultant recycled plastic Procyclen.
